CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. CMI was founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari. CMI has since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking with annual budget of 13 million euros and close to 100 personnel working in different capacities. CMI has headquarters in Helsinki, and an office in Brussels with active engagement in over 20 other locations globally. CMI became a Foundation in 2021.

CMI is looking for one or two controllers to strengthen its Finance and Administration team in Helsinki. You can be either a more experienced professional (Controller) or more in the beginning of your career (Junior Controller).

You will be responsible for reporting and controlling processes of CMI's programme and projects. You will collaborate closely with our regional project teams and the rest of our Finance and Administration team. You enjoy working in a multicultural organisation. You will report to the Head, Finance and Administration.

Your key responsibilities:
Overall financial project management, budgeting and reporting processes from the funding application until the final reporting
Development of CMI's financial reporting and project follow-up
Development and follow-up of financial processes, controls and guidelines
Development of external accounting in collaboration with external accounting team
Support to yearly financial statement, especially related to projects
Support, trainings and guidelines to our experts with finance-related issues

A successful candidate is expected to have:
at least three (3) years of similar experience (Junior Controller) or at least five (5) years of similar experience (Controller). Any experience related to project funding and funding instruments is considered a strong asset as well as previous work experience from an international environment.
excellent team working skills, prioritizing skills and ability to manage pressure
analytical, independent and solution-oriented way of working
a university degree from a relevant field (e.g. Master's degree in accounting or economics)
fluent written and spoken skills in Finnish and English. Other language skills are an advantage, especially French, Arabic or Russian.
excellent ICT skills, especially strong Excel skills
commitment to CMI values and principles of neutrality
